Muffin.

Today, my sister-in-law and I were in a small coffee shop with my boys and my nephew in Bangor, Maine. We took a long time deciding what to order. Reed wanted a chocolate muffin and a Sprite. Max wanted a raspberry lemonade and a brownie. Michele had a cafe au lait. Isaac, my nephew, wanted a raspberry lemonade. Davis hadn’t decided. I wanted a mocha. (no whipped cream, please.) Finally, I was ready to order and some guy ordered a chocolate muffin at the same time I placed my order. Oops. He heard and realized there were only 2 chocolate muffins. Before I had time to even realize what was happening, he changed his order to a blueberry muffin.
Can you imagine that happening in D.C.? I love Maine.

How thoughtful! That’s just the whipped cream on the mocha of your vacation!
wouldn’t happen here in L.A. either!
What a nice story! You’re right…it wouldn’t happen in most parts of the world. Lucky you!

PS I had a cafe mocha in Starbuck’s in Oxford this morning — legacy of Seattle, I guess — but I didn’t hold the whipped cream!
would never happen here!
Another place that might happen is on the other side of the world. When we were in Australia on our honeymoon, we went to a McDonald’s to get sodas. I love Diet Cokes with lots of ice. So, the girl took a large cup and filled it with ice and then went to add the soda. She refused to charge me for a large soda because she said she only put as much soda as you would into a medium. How’s that for customer service! Love those Aussies!!!
