Bromo Seltzer

Though I was born in Philadelphia and now live closer to D.C. than to Baltimore, I think of myself as a Baltimore girl.

When I saw these bottles of Bromo Seltzer today at a flea market, I thought of the Bromo Seltzer Tower in Baltimore. It’s a classic. H.L.Mencken wrote in 1911, “All Baltimoreans may be divided into two classes — those who think that the Emerson Tower [Bromo Seltzer] is beautiful, and those who know better.” (Check out the link, it’s a great article about Mencken and I laughed at how much he looked like Henry Gibson in that photo.)
