Got Pads?

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend lately. Maybe it’s been around forever and I just noticed. This is totally feasible, since I don’t shop much.

A lot of workout tops come with padding. You know what I mean, right? To make your breasts look bigger. That kind of padding. And while most appear to be removable, it begs the question.

Why would I want to look bustier than I am (or am not) when I work out? And why would I want the extra fabric and insulation (read: sweat more!) in my top?

I’m baffled. Truly baffled.

I know there are some folks that use the gym as a social outlet. I get that they want to look good. PS: my gym ain’t about that, by the way.

But does anyone really think that padded tops make you look better or even natural? And once you get to sweating from the extra layers, is that appealing?

Am I missing something here?

  1. Disclaimer: I don’t buy padding in athletic wear.

But as someone who admittedly looks boyish in most upper body clothing (sad truth, too much info?) that doesn’t have a little “help” I can see where a little something extra might be more “normal” looking than nature itself. Regardless, it still sounds like something to make me sweat more… and that’s clearly not a good thing for my beauty regimen, gym or no 🙂

    1. I hear you & am right there with you, but those pads get lumpy in the wash and don’t look particularly natural anyway! And I just can’t get past the sweat factor! Thanks for commenting!

  2. While I don’t necessarily want padding—I don’t even want SLEEVES, for that matter, when I’m working out; any extra fabric is too-too mcuh—I have to admit that I shop for a sports bra with cups, or some sort of molding. For all of knowing “intellectually” that these things don’t matter, it still takes a certain amount of courage to work out next to Arnold Schwarzenegger, as I get older and thicker. Binding my breasts and parking myself in unflattering positions in front of mirrors that can be seen from anywhere in the room can be hard to overcome on some days. On that note, all it takes is a pair of silver hoop earrings to make the mirror a bit more tolerable. Whatever gets me to the gym, is what I figure.

You know I love comments! Comment here. (Does that sound needy?)
